What affects weekly pool service cost

Weekly service is usually a flat monthly price. These are the main factors that move it up or down:

  • Pool size and shape. Bigger pools take longer to brush and vacuum and need more chemicals. Freeform shapes, benches and wide steps add time.
  • Spa or water features. An attached spa, waterfall or fountain adds equipment and surfaces to clean and check.
  • Chemicals included or not. Some customers prefer an all-in price; others pay a lower service rate plus the chemicals used. Both are fair; it's about what's easier for you.
  • Debris load. Trees, planters and open desert lots mean more debris and more time per visit.
  • Sanitizer type. Salt systems use less bought chlorine but need cell checks and cleaning. Chlorine pools use more tablets or liquid chlorine, especially in summer.
  • Equipment condition. Older or undersized equipment can make it harder to keep water clear, which can mean more time and chemicals.

Why summer costs more to run

In Las Vegas, the pool's running costs change with the seasons. Summer heat and sun burn through chlorine faster, so chemical use rises from late spring through early fall. Evaporation is also higher, so you'll top up more water. Some service plans keep a flat price all year and average this out; others adjust for summer. Ask which one your quote uses.

Leak detection and repair costs

Leak detection is priced per inspection and covers testing to find where water is being lost. The repair is quoted separately once we know what's wrong. A loose fitting or pump seal is usually a small repair. A cracked underground line or a light niche leak takes more time and materials. The bigger cost is often the leak you don't fix: wasted water, extra chemicals, and soil washing out under the deck.

Before you book, the free bucket test on our leak detection page can tell you whether the water loss is likely a leak or just evaporation.

Green pool cleanup costs

The price for a green pool depends on its size, how dark the water is, how long it's been neglected and whether the equipment is working. A slightly cloudy pool may need one visit; a dark green pool that has sat all summer can need several, plus multiple filter cleanings. If the water's mineral levels are very high, a drain and refill may cost less than a long chemical treatment. We test first so you only pay for the approach that will work.

Equipment repair and replacement costs

Many equipment problems are small: a worn seal, a bad capacitor, a cracked lid or a dirty filter. Those repairs cost far less than new equipment. When a pump motor or heater is near the end of its life, replacement may make more sense. The price depends on the equipment you choose, the plumbing and electrical work involved and whether you upgrade, for example to a variable-speed pump. We'll give you repair and replace options side by side.

Resurfacing costs

FinishStarting price
Standard plasterCall for a quote
Quartz aggregateCall for a quote
Pebble aggregateCall for a quote
Waterline tile replacementCall for a quote

Resurfacing price depends on the pool's surface area, steps and benches, the finish you choose, crack repairs and any tile or coping work done at the same time. Since the pool is drained anyway, it's a good time to fix leaks and update tile.

Ways to keep costs down

  • Stay consistent. Steady weekly service costs less than recovering from a green pool or a scaled-up heater.
  • Fix leaks early. Small leaks waste water and chemicals every day and can grow into bigger repairs.
  • Run the pump smart. The right run time and pump speed for your pool can lower electric costs.
  • Use a cover where it fits. A cover cuts evaporation and debris and holds heat in spas and heated pools.
  • Keep calcium in check. Managing hard water protects surfaces, heaters and salt cells from expensive damage.

Pool service cost FAQ

Is weekly pool service cheaper than doing it myself?

Doing it yourself saves the service fee, but you'll still buy chemicals, equipment and time. Many owners find that steady professional service avoids costly mistakes like green pools or scaled equipment.

Why do quotes vary so much between companies?

Quotes differ on whether chemicals are included, how much time is spent per visit, and what's checked. Ask exactly what each visit includes before comparing prices.

Do you charge extra in the summer?

It depends on the plan. Some plans are flat all year; others adjust for higher chemical use in summer. Your quote will spell it out.

Is leak detection worth the cost?

If you're refilling often, usually yes. A leak wastes water and chemicals every day and can damage the ground under your deck.
